We had a 2 tier extension at the back of our property to create a large open plan kitchen & dining area, along with 2 additional bedrooms upstairs. We had never had any building work carried out before and under estimated the disruption that major work would have on our living (on a temporary basis). Barry & his team were very open and honest throughout the build and over time, we built a good relationship with them.

The one area that I think could have been improved is the length of time it took to complete the build, but this was partly impacted by the time of year we decided to have the work done.

House extension Barry and his team were very professional and have done a wonderful job building our extension.

The costs for some things were a little more, for instance we had to have deeper foundations, but Barry ensured we knew about this as we went along.

Other additional costs were down to us asking for extra bits to be done- Barry and Alex were very good at working out how to do some of my more unusual ideas!

It took longer than originally stipulated, but we had more done and some of the delay was due to other factors beyond Barry''s control. I think as jobs like this do often take longer, it is good to keep an open mind and be flexible. Barry is good at communicating what is going on and why.

Overall, we are really pleased with our extension and we would not hesitate to employ Barry and his team again.

Ray Bircham Builders prepared our extension for a whole new kitchen with underfloor heating, new double glazed doors, new window, removing an old back door, preparing for a new sky light and extending a toilet to a shower room. On the first site visit the builder had some very good ideas and suggestions as to layout. Each stage of building work was explained to us and consultation made throughout the whole job. The builder was very flexible and was able to change small items on request. Obviously the work was dusty, but all doors were covered with board to prevent too much disruption.
All the workers were very pleasant and helpful. The work was undertaken to the highest of standards and on schedule. We would have no hesitation in recommending Ray Bircham Builders. Thank you very much for a job extremely well done!

Side and rear kitchen extension on a terraced house including downstairs wet room. Barry and his team have provided us with an outstanding service. Nothing was too much trouble. There were many complications along the way (the joys of old houses) but nothing phased Barry. His problem solving and ability to think outside the box are something a lot of tradesmen see as an opportunity to increase costs but this is not the case for this company. We always felt that we were able to be honest about what we did and didn’t want and although Barry would offer advice he would never try to force his opinions upon us and imply he knew best. Everyday the house was left in a tidy state and they did their best to not encroach on our living areas although due to the nature of the extension this was sometimes challenging. The work went on a little longest than expected but we were able to discuss this easily. Throughout the time Barry and his team were with us they became like extended family. Everyone was a pleasure to have a cup of tea with and they were all brilliant with our little boy. This company is as reliable and trustworthy as it gets and we can not recommend them enough. The standard of work from Barry and his team is fantastic and everyone who comes to our home is wowed by what has been achieved and the quality of the finish. I have already had extra jobs done and will continue to use them in the future as well as recommend the my local friends. Keep up the good work Barry and team!

Two floor extension, patio and other remodelling work I write this letter in recommendation of Ray Bircham Builders Ltd. as a builders and project managers. Barry worked with us, since October 2015, on a large double extension to the side of our current property including two new bedrooms, a new kitchen/diner, a new patio, other outside work and some remodelling of the existing building. We have been very impressed with the work and can recommend them highly. Barry takes great care in all the works and employs tradesman that are trustworthy and produce work of a high standard. Something that puts Barry above other tradesman is his communication skills; he regularly had discussions with us leading us through the complex process and making sure we made the correct decisions at the correct time. Single storey extension with vaulted ceiling and in-suite really pleased with my new studio room, will recommend them and use again,

To remove and replace existing banisters and newel posts. To remove and replace existing coat cupboard doors. To investigate and repair damaged guttering to front of property. From the outset, communication from the company was precise and transparent and we knew exactly what to expect and what we would be paying for. There were numerous emails between us and the company and each one was treated with courtesy and acceptance.

Barry and Alex arrived on the date agreed and worked incredibly hard to ensure the work was completed on time, despite some unforeseen delays to the start time. From the start of the project, we were kept informed of any delays that might be incurred due to materials not being available etc. Very flexible and amenable to our requests whilst on site and nothing was too much trouble. Both Barry and Alex were friendly, approachable and a pleasure to have in the house.

The work has been completed to a fantastic standard and we''re really pleased with the finish. The materials and finish were exactly as we were expecting and have been fitted with a skill and experience that shows.

We would definitely ask the company back to do more work for us and would highly recommend them to others.

Major demolition & rebuild project to convert 2 flats into a luxury home and separate this unit from a second dwelling I had used the firm once before, on a small roofing project, as a test for their suitability to undertake the major project.
They obviously were fine on the test project and have been excellent on the major project.

The demolition of a tired wood and brick conservatory, installation of new patio doors and refurbishment of roof line. We had full confidence in this company as Mr. Bircham explained what could be involved at the very start. He and his team worked very hard, were very polite and quiet.

Complete renovation of old barn into a delightful 3 bedroom property. Ray Bircham have done a number of restoration projects for us – this one was particularly impressive. Excellent quality, attention to detail, excellent workmanship. Very helpful & a pleasure to deal with.

We are very pleased with our new front garden wall. The builders were polite and considerate and always consulted us with any queries. Very good standard of workmanship.

Very pleased with the quality of the work. all the builders used were experienced tradesman and this was reflected in the finished job. I would certainly consider using Ray Bircham Builders again for any other project.

Extending property and internal alterations. Fitting new bathroom and kitchen. Tiling walls and floors. Laying wooden floor. We have used this builder on several occasions. Work is always completed professionally and to a high standard.

A very efficient service by Ray Bircham Builders – everything completed in a first class manor. To a very good standard and a very competitive price – we feel we received very good value for money.

Eliminate squeak in floor panel. Repairs/replace cement under edge of roof tiles. Work was done very professionally & left clean and tidy on completion.
