Anglian RoofCare is run by the two of us, James Todd and Justyn Brown, and we have worked together as a fitting team since 2004. We grew up in the same part of Norwich, in Eaton, and my own route into the trade began even earlier, making stained glass windows alongside my father back in my school days. Craftsmanship has been part of the picture from the very start. In 2017 we brought all of that experience together and founded Anglian RoofCare, and today we work from Dereham and serve the whole of Norfolk.
Between us we have built up more than 25 years of combined experience, and over that time we have grown into a team that feels more like a family. From the first small jobs when we went out on our own, to the larger builds we manage and take real pride in today, this has been the most rewarding thing either of us has ever done. Our work is our passion, and we think it shows.
Why standards matter to us
Roofing is a trade that almost anyone can walk into. There is no licence needed to put a ladder up and call yourself a roofer, which makes it genuinely difficult for homeowners to know who they can trust with their home and their money. For years we watched work go to whoever was quickest and cheapest, and we were often losing jobs precisely because our standards, and the prices that go with doing a job properly, would not let us race to the bottom.That is exactly why we joined Norfolk Trusted Trader. We wanted to stand clearly apart from that, and to give people an independent, public signal that we are a company doing things the right way. Being Trading Standards Approved does that for us.
How we found the vetting
If anything, the vetting process was refreshing. It felt straightforward to us, because so many of the requirements were already built into the way we run the business. Being asked the right questions, and knowing we could answer every one of them honestly, simply confirmed that we were already doing things the way they should be done.“We treat every roof as if it were our own home. Being Trading Standards Approved proves we mean it.”
What membership has meant
Since joining, membership has brought us a handful of direct enquiries, but its real value has been the reassurance it gives people. Most of our work still comes through word of mouth, and being able to point a potential customer towards our Trusted Trader profile, and invite them to look at our reviews and our vetted status, gives them that extra bit of confidence when they are weighing up a quote. For someone to explore an independent, trusted platform and see our track record for themselves has helped us stand out from the competition.We promote it wherever we can. We tag Norfolk Trading Standards in our Facebook posts, which we then share in local community groups, and we include the Trusted Trader logo in our photographs alongside our name, so people recognise it before they ever pick up the phone. Having it on our quotes and paperwork has made a real difference too.
Looking ahead
We are thrilled to be approaching 25 years working alongside each other, and we have never felt more secure in our future. Over that time we have expanded our skill set, taken on bigger and more ambitious projects, and earned a reputation we intend to keep on building.What has never changed is the way we approach a job. We are always honoured when a customer chooses us and trusts us with the biggest investment of their lives, their home, and we treat every property as if it were our own, from the products we stand by to the practices we use.
