Case Study - Sentinal Industries Ltd
Thursday 27 August 2026From automatic gates to a kitchen knock through
Sentinal Industries Ltd is a Trading Standards Approved Norfolk Trusted Trader, working from Wymondham across Norfolk and the wider East Anglia region. We take on the main bulk of construction work for domestic and commercial customers, alongside pedestrian and vehicle access, security and AI systems including face recognition and ANPR cameras, fencing and compounds, container conversions and storage site preparations.
The company was set up in August 2024, following the increased workload and the range of services being offered by our sister company, Mechway Ltd. Through Mechway the services grew to the point where the USP of the company became confusing, so Sentinal Industries was born. That let us separate the key services and equipment and place them under their own brand, so a customer can see straight away what they are dealing with.

Why we joined Norfolk Trusted Trader
We joined Trusted Trader to prove to our customers that we are doing things correctly, and because we are proud to go above and beyond in our service, our communication and our work. We wanted something a homeowner could check for themselves before they ever picked up the phone.Joining was straightforward, largely down to the communication from the Trusted Trader team, but they did require specific information that gave us confidence in the process and in the accreditation. They asked for various proofs of standards, which included our insurances and copies of invoices, as well as a formal interview where we were asked specific questions which warranted replies that met their criteria. We found that fantastic, because it added weight to the accreditation.
“We really liked the idea of a trustworthy scheme that our customers could get assurances from, which was backed by the council and we were Trading Standards Approved.”
A knock through, from the steel to the skim
One recent job came to us as a recommendation through the trade: a knock through from a kitchen into an extension for a domestic client. It involved building regulations and structural engineers from the outset, so the paperwork and the calculations had to be right before anything was touched. We knocked through the wall, installed the lintel, fitted underfloor heating, levelled the floor and filled the cavities. We then re-wired the kitchen, skimmed both rooms and re-tiled both rooms. It is the sort of job that can easily involve four or five separate trades turning up in sequence, each one waiting on the last. Keeping it with one team means the programme is ours to manage and the customer is not left chasing anybody.
That job came through a recommendation, which is how a good deal of our construction work arrives. It is also why the Trusted Trader listing matters to us: it gives a customer who has only heard our name somewhere a way of checking us out properly.
Clockwise from top left: cutting out the wall, the new steel lintel going in on the lift, tiling to a laser line, and levelling the floor.
The other side of the business
Alongside the construction work, a large part of what we do is access control and security: electric, bespoke and industrial gates, automatic barriers and bollards, fencing and compounds, and CCTV, ANPR and face recognition systems. Our verified reviews on the Trusted Trader scheme are mostly for that side of the business, including gate automation at a school, where the safety compliance has to be right, and gate design in a conservation area.It is the same approach either way. We survey the site, we design what is actually needed rather than what is easiest to sell, and we install and maintain it ourselves. Customers deal with the same people from the first visit to the handover.
Making the membership visible
Putting the membership logo on our paperwork and on the vehicles gives our customers added confidence, and we believe that helps in securing more work.We have used the logos and the free vehicle livery that were supplied. We have also had a few calls with members of the Trusted Trader team, and they are always positive and helpful.
Steady growth, on purpose
We have plans to grow steadily within East Anglia as the recommendations from clients increase and our brand becomes attributed to quality work. That takes time. The growth will be structured, so as not to devalue the brand and to keep consistency in everything we do.Daniel Browne
