Forty years, two generations and a roofing name Norfolk has come to trust

RG Leverett Ltd Roofing and Roofline is a Trading Standards Approved Norfolk Trusted Trader and one of the county's longest established roofing companies, with a family history stretching back more than forty years.

Our story began in 1986, when Robert's father, Robert William Leverett, set up as an independent flat roofing contractor with one vehicle, two employees and a simple commitment to quality workmanship. From those beginnings he built an excellent reputation right across Norfolk.

Robert joined the business after leaving school in 1990 and learned the trade directly from his father. When Robert Senior retired in 2000, Robert took over the company and continued to grow it. In 2006 the business became RG Leverett Ltd, and in 2007 Suzy joined full time to manage the administration, customer service and day to day running of the office. Together we have grown the company into one of Norfolk's established roofing contractors.

Today we operate from our office and yard on the Sweet Briar Industrial Estate in Norwich and employ around twenty members of staff. We specialise in both pitched and flat roofing, and currently run four teams of skilled roof tilers and two teams of specialist flat roofers. Whether it is a small domestic repair or a large scale roofing project, every job matters to us.

One thing we are especially proud of is that all of our roofing teams are directly employed by RG Leverett Ltd. We do not rely on subcontract labour, which allows us to maintain consistently high standards of workmanship, training, health and safety, and customer care on every single project. Over the years we have also earned a number of respected industry accreditations, including Constructionline, SMAS, and membership of the Confederation of Roofing Contractors and the National Federation of Roofing Contractors. As NFRC Competent Roofer Contractors we can self certify qualifying work and provide customers with Building Regulations Compliance Certificates where they apply.

Why we became a Norfolk Trusted Trader

We joined the Norfolk Trusted Trader scheme many years ago, and in fact have been members since 2009, because we strongly believed in what it set out to do. Throughout our years in roofing we have seen far too many examples of poor workmanship left behind by rogue traders, often leaving homeowners with serious problems and unexpected costs. We wanted to be associated with a scheme that promotes professionalism, accountability and high standards across the trades.

Being vetted by Trading Standards gave our customers independent reassurance and allowed us to demonstrate our commitment to running a trustworthy, professional and reputable business.

A vetting process we welcomed

We found the vetting process thorough, but entirely appropriate. As members of organisations such as Constructionline, SMAS, the NFRC and CORC, we are well used to rigorous assessment, and we understand exactly why it matters. Trusted Trader was one of the first accreditation schemes we joined, and we welcomed the checks involved. Robust vetting benefits businesses and consumers alike, because it helps maintain confidence in reputable local traders and encourages all of us to keep reviewing and improving the way we work.

Standing on the right side of the line

Over the years we have been asked, on several occasions, to help with inspections and reports on roofing work carried out by rogue traders, or by contractors whose work has fallen well below acceptable standards. We have always been pleased to lend our expertise where it can help protect consumers.

Still a family business at heart

We are incredibly proud of the family business we have built together. Working side by side as husband and wife brings its own challenges, but also enormous satisfaction, and the business remains very hands on. Robert is still actively involved on site, overseeing projects to make sure our standards are maintained, while Suzy runs the business operations alongside our Office Manager Vickie and Administrator Wendy.

Over the years we have completed thousands of successful projects, from small bay window and garage roofs through to schools, churches, heritage buildings and listed properties. Some have called for close collaboration with conservation officers and bat ecologists, to make sure important wildlife habitats are protected while the work is carried out.

What drives us is simple: high quality roofing backed by exceptional customer care. We genuinely care about every project we take on, and we believe that personal commitment is exactly why so many of our customers come to us through recommendation and repeat business. Looking ahead, our goal is the same as it has always been, to keep delivering quality roofing, investing in our staff, supporting our local community and protecting the reputation we have built over several decades.
