Case Study - N.B. O’Shea Construction
Thursday 18 June 2026From the railways to West Norfolk’s trusted name in groundworks and construction
N.B. O’Shea Construction is a Trading Standards Approved Norfolk Trusted Trader based in King’s Lynn, carrying out groundworks, drainage, concrete work, brickwork, demolition, driveways, patios and automated gate installation for homeowners and businesses across West Norfolk.
Before I ever ran my own business, I spent years working in construction on the railways, travelling all over the country and working my way up to General Foreman. It taught me how big projects really come together, and just how much difference it makes when the people on site are reliable, organised and do exactly what they say they will. In August 2018 I decided to take everything I had learned and build something of my own, and N.B. O’Shea Construction was born.
We are genuine all-rounders. Alongside the groundworks and excavation that sit at the heart of what we do, we take on drainage and septic tank installation, concrete work, repointing, demolition and site clearance, and the access control, intercoms and CCTV that go hand in hand with automated gates. If a job involves preparing, building on or finishing the ground around a property, the chances are we can help.

Why I joined Norfolk Trusted Trader
My original reason for joining was simply to raise my profile, but the longer I have been a member, the more I have come to value what it really says about the business. Construction and groundworks is exactly the sort of work where homeowners can feel uneasy about who they are letting onto their property, and often with good reason. Being a Trusted Trader reassures people that they are dealing with a genuine person and a genuine business, not someone who has simply bought a van and printed some flyers. For anyone deciding who to trust with their home and their money, that independent reassurance counts for a great deal.A straightforward process
I found the vetting process relatively easy, and the team at Trusted Trader were really helpful in guiding me through it, particularly when I was first getting registered. Knowing that the checks are genuinely thorough is part of the point. It means membership actually stands for something the moment a customer sees it.“Being a Trusted Trader reassures people that they are dealing with a genuine person and a genuine business.”
What membership has meant
The clearest benefit has been standing out when enquiries come in. When someone is weighing up who to call, being a vetted, Trading Standards Approved Trusted Trader gives them a reason to choose us over a name they know nothing about. We promote our membership where it counts, with the Trusted Trader logo on the van and on our website, so customers can see for themselves that we have been independently checked and approved.
I am not one to shout about myself, so I am happy to let the work and the feedback do the talking. The reviews customers leave on our Norfolk Trusted Trader profile tend to say the same kinds of things: that we answer the phone, turn up when we say we will, get on with the job without disappearing, and leave a clean and tidy site at the end. To me that is simply what people should be able to expect, but it is reassuring that customers think it worth singling out.
Growing the business
When I started out it was just me. Today N.B. O’Shea Construction is a VAT registered business and I work regularly with a small team of subcontractors, which lets me take on larger and more varied projects than I could ever have managed on my own. Being part of Norfolk Trusted Trader has played its part in that journey, helping the business stand out and giving new customers the confidence to pick up the phone.Looking ahead
What drives me is straightforward: doing a proper job, treating customers fairly, and being the kind of business people are glad they called. Being a Norfolk Trusted Trader sits naturally alongside that, because it reflects the same standards I have tried to work to since my very first day on site. As the business continues to grow across West Norfolk, that is exactly where I want to keep it.Noelan O’Shea
