From school leaver to East Anglia's trusted heating and cooling specialist

Olive Air Ltd is a Trading Standards Approved Suffolk Trusted Trader, specialising in the service, repair and installation of heat pumps, air conditioning and refrigeration systems for homes and businesses across East Anglia.

I first started out in this industry straight after leaving school, learning the trade from the ground up. In February 2021 I took the step of forming Olive Air Ltd as a limited company, and the business has grown steadily ever since. Today we employ three engineers, an apprentice and three office based staff, working from our base at the Beamish Hub on Berwick Road in Ipswich and covering homes and businesses right across East Anglia.

We specialise in the service, repair and installation of heat pumps, air conditioning and refrigeration systems, including both air source and ground source heat pumps. Although I now spend part of my week in the office, I still genuinely enjoy being out on site for the rest of it. It keeps me close to the work and, just as importantly, close to our customers.

Why we joined Suffolk Trusted Trader

Joining was actually a customer's idea. One of the people we had worked for suggested we look at the Suffolk Trusted Trader scheme, and the more we thought about it, the more sense it made. We could see it would help generate more leads, but just as importantly it would give customers the reassurance that we had been thoroughly and independently vetted.

The vetting process itself was smooth and straightforward. Whenever we were unsure about anything, the Trusted Trader office team were excellent and guided us through the application from start to finish.

The impact on our business

We are really glad we became members. When we take on new customers, we often point them towards the reviews on our Trusted Trader profile, where we have built up a 4.9 star rating from 114 verified reviews. We hope that gives people genuine peace of mind when they are deciding which contractor to trust with their home. Being able to show an independent, verified record of our work makes a real difference to that decision.

Since joining, we have also reached some milestones we are proud of. Our apprentice has progressed into a fully qualified engineer, we have taken on a new apprentice in their place, and we have added further support in the office to keep up with demand.

We promote our membership whenever a new enquiry comes in, and we are reassured to know the team is there if we ever need advice or support. Our experience has been so positive that we have not needed to call on them beyond onboarding, but it is good to know the backing is there. We also receive an email from the team each time a customer leaves us a review, which is a nice touch and helps us keep track of the feedback coming in.
