Our back door key broke and we were unable to unlock it. We found Linacre on Trusted Trader and, while it wasn’t an emergency because we could still use the front door, the locksmith came really quickly, was professional and polite, fixed the problem, and gave us advice about getting spares cut. Before he left he was also able to replace a window handle which had a broken lock. All done for a reasonable price. First rate service.

Replacement of a new Yale locking cylinder. I called Linacre Locksmiths early in the morning on 8 July. Whilst on a dog walk I had managed to lose the key to our patio door and didn''t have a spare. This is the door that our dog uses to go in and out of the house to the garden so really important to us be able to use!
I explained the situation and was told that I could be seen that day and I would be fitted in to the visits already planned.
This was excellent news and true to this a new lock was fitted within a few hours.
I was also given some advice about an issue with the door itself and also a problem with my front door handle.

Replacement mechanism for UPVC back door and replacement for broken window handle - both were stuck shut I telephoned at 7:45 this morning as my UPVC door mechanism broke last night and the door was stuck shut. I was asked when would be convenient for the work to be carried out. By noon today the door mechanism had been replaced and also a broken window handle replaced that I hadn''t originally booked to be done. I was shown what had broken in both cases. Advice provided on what I can do about the central glass door panel to alleviate further issues. Very happy with the speed of response and the thorough job delivered. Diagnosed a broken mechanism, replaced same and also a new, better fitting, barrel. I emailed Linacre Locksmiths after I was unable to open the rear upvc door, where the key was just spinning. I received a reply within an hour detailing the probable cause and the cost of various replacement parts.
We agreed on a date and time and they arrived promptly. Within minutes the door was open and the broken mechanism confirmed. I was shown the broken part before a new one was fitted.

I contacted him to see if he could fit a new lock to an interior door which he said he could do. He asked me what type of lock I would prefer and I mailed him an image of other locks I have fitted to other interior doors in my house. He gave his recommendation and arranged a time to see me the next day. I wasn''t expecting him to attend site quite so quickly and he was prompt and on time.
He got straight to work after assessing the requirements and it took hardly any time at all.
I have a dog gate which would have interfered with the position of the lock, so he moved the lock to a better position, removed a finger plate to the door and once the lock was complete he even re-attached the finger plate back above the new lock.
His work was professional, swift and tidy. He used a floor mat to contain as much debris as possible and tidied up after. He advised me of other locks I may need replacing in future and different types and finishes to use.

To be able to open the front door. I was locked out of my house. The actual job took about 3 seconds to open the door. I did ask if there was a chair rate- and was charged £40 instead of £45.
