Stamp Out Rogue Traders #SORT 2026

1st June 2026

Stamp Out Rogue Traders: join the #SORT campaign this June

Throughout June 2026, Trusted Trader is working with Norfolk County Council, Suffolk County Council and local Trading Standards teams to Stamp Out Rogue Traders. The awareness campaign, known as #SORT, runs from 1 to 30 June and is designed to protect residents across Norfolk and Suffolk from doorstep crime, cold callers and rogue traders.

Why the campaign matters

Rogue traders look to take advantage of people in their own homes, often using pressure and urgency to push them into paying well over the odds for shoddy or unnecessary work. Homeowners can be left out of pocket with little or no way to put things right. Older and more isolated residents are frequently targeted, although a convincing approach on the doorstep can catch anyone out.

The message behind #SORT is a simple one. You are under no obligation to open your door to an unexpected caller, you should never feel rushed into a decision, and the safest way to arrange work is to choose a trader yourself from a source you can trust.

A few steps make a real difference. Keep the door closed if something does not feel right, get more than one quote, never hand over large sums of cash before work begins, and always check a trader's credentials before you commit.

How you will see and hear the campaign

During June, the #SORT campaign will run across a mix of channels in both counties:

- Radio advertising on Greatest Hits Radio, Broadland Radio and Suffolk Sound
- Google search advertising
- Social media, using the hashtag #SORT
- Flyers and posters distributed through libraries, community venues and partner organisations.

A safer way to find a trader

At the heart of the campaign is a trusted alternative to the doorstep approach. The Norfolk and Suffolk Trusted Trader directories only list businesses that have been vetted and approved by Trading Standards, so residents can arrange work with confidence.

You can find approved traders at trustedtrader.team/Norfolk and trustedtrader.team/Suffolk. For anyone who would rather not use a computer, the Trusted Trader helpline is 0333 444 2197.

Help us spread the word

We are inviting community groups, partner organisations and residents across Norfolk and Suffolk to get behind the campaign and help protect their neighbours from doorstep crime.

There are lots of simple ways to take part. Follow and share our posts using #SORT, talk to friends, family and neighbours about staying safe at the door. Request and no cold calling stickers. A quick check in on an older or vulnerable neighbour can make all the difference.
