Big enough to cope, small enough to care

Lumberjacks is a Trading Standards Approved Suffolk Trusted Trader, and a family run fencing, landscaping and timber centre that has been part of the Ipswich landscape since 2000. We serve trade and retail customers alike from our yard on Bramford Road, and while we have grown over the years, the way we do things has not changed. With a team of nine, we are big enough to cope with whatever project you bring us, but small enough to genuinely care about it, whether that is the garden of your forever home or a job you are completing for one of your own customers.

Walk into the yard and you will find a comprehensive range of landscaping and fencing materials under one roof: posts, gates, sleepers, softwood and composite decking, fence panels, decorative and loose aggregates, driveway block paving, sandstone and porcelain paving, artificial grass and concrete products. We are an Elite Gold Stockist for Durapost, the galvanised and powder coated posts that offer a lighter and stronger alternative to traditional timber, and we have a large display area showing sheds, summerhouses and outdoor buildings. We also supply Calor gas, coal and logs both bagged and in bulk, along with metal and wire fencing, tools and fixings, garden furniture, chimeneas and outdoor lighting.

More than just a timber yard

We pride ourselves on old school customer service and the kind of relationships that keep people coming back. A big part of that is being able to cover whatever a customer needs, so alongside our stock range we offer bespoke services such as custom made fencing panels and made to measure gates. We have recently upgraded our crosscut saw and installed a wall saw, which means we can now cut sheet materials to size for customers on the spot. Deliveries go out across all of Suffolk and parts of the neighbouring counties on our own vehicles, on a day that suits you.

Why we joined Suffolk Trusted Trader

We wanted to join because we believed it would give our customers real reassurance that we had been thoroughly vetted by Trading Standards, promoting confidence in both our products and our service. Choosing where to buy materials, or who to trust with a garden project, can feel like a leap of faith, and we liked the idea of a scheme that removes some of that doubt. We also hoped it would raise our profile and showcase the honest, knowledgeable service we have always prided ourselves on.

The vetting process itself was relatively simple, but thorough for all the right reasons. During the checks it was flagged that we needed a few small alterations to our website, which brought home just how much detail was going on behind the scenes. Far from feeling like a box ticking exercise, it showed us that the approval carries real weight.

What membership has meant

Since joining, we have found the scheme has made us more visible to customers, promoting Lumberjacks as a trustworthy business that provides quality materials and a proper service. We have noticed an increase in enquiries and a greater awareness of what we do, and both trade and retail customers regularly take the time to leave feedback on our Suffolk Trusted Trader profile. The themes that come up again and again are the ones we care about most: helpful, knowledgeable staff, quality products, competitive prices and reliable delivery, whatever the size of the order.

We promote our membership wherever we can. You will find the Trusted Trader badge on our website and on all of our email correspondence, and our stickers are displayed on our lorries and around the store, so customers know they are dealing with an approved business before they even get in touch.

Support when we need it

We have not often needed to contact the team directly, as there are regular updates by email and phone, but on the odd occasion we have, the people we dealt with were friendly, informative and professional, and happy to help with any questions or requests. It is reassuring to know that support is there.

Looking ahead

With the future in mind, we plan to keep doing what we do best: offering excellent customer service alongside an extensive product range. We want to be the go to business for our customers’ fencing and landscaping needs, and to keep growing alongside them as their requirements change. We are a family run business with old fashioned values, offering a professional, friendly and reliable service, and that is exactly where we intend to stay.
